Many people don't invest the time to handle their snakes and work with them so they can learn to read the snakes body language and interpret what the snake is trying to tell you. Even though they can't relate their needs to us vocally they most definitely have their own way of telling us if something is wrong or if WE need to make changes to make them more comfortable.
The snake in this video is Chewy, my 11 foot male Coastal Carpet Python.

People that spend a lot of time working with and handling their snakes develop a strong bond with their snakes and the snakes learn to trust their handler and feel safe and secure around them. All 16 of my snakes and I have an unspoken closeness between us because we have learned to trust each other and enjoy each others companionship. I take my snakes outdoors most of the spring and summer months and they always stay close to me or are touching me or on me and I have 10 acres and they always stay right by my side. If I get up and walk off they will follow me, People are so wrong when they say snakes don't bond with people and don't have feelings or emotions. :(

My snakes love being out spending time with me and Chewy (male coastal carpet python) is the most demanding of my time and attention and he spends hours playing on my sympathy and begging me to let him out so he can be close to me. And yet, so many people don't think snakes have feelings nor express any emotions :( Chewy's enclosure is closest to my daybed so this is an everyday event in my house until I take him out so he can bond with me. LOL

I always invest a ton of time working with my snakes and handling them and all of my snakes are VERY social animals. I've made several videos showing people that with proper care snakes can make just as great a pet and companion as any dog or cat can be :)

It really bothers all of us snake enthusiast that people are so fast to judge snakes in a negative way without really knowing very little about them because they aren't the mean horrible animals that so many (especially the media) and uneducated people portray snakes to be. This is one of my longest videos just to give people the opportunity to see for themselves what magnificent pets and companions snakes truly can be.

Jade is certainly one of a kind she loves to be out and to be handled but she doesn't want to be touched unless it's always on her terms. She was given the nickname Miss Prissy Pants because of her temperament and personality by a friend of mine and the name suited her and stuck with her so now that's what she's called not Jade (her name) ROFL

I've raised snakes since I was 14 years old and it's been one of the most wonderful and rewarding experiences of my life and I've learned so much about snakes from my own experiences with them. I've always had a great passion for the large constrictors because they have always been so wrongly misrepresented by the media and press and by people that have little or no experience in working with big constrictors. It's a life long passion and a life style that I will be a big part of until the day I die. I will be 68 years old in April.

So many people that are uneducated about snakes assume that they are these big, evil. aggressive killing machines when in fact they make awesome pets and companions, but it all depends on the quality of time you are willing to invest raising your snakes !!
The Burmese Python hype in Florida has so many people afraid of big constrictors and it's so wrong to judge these animals based on what people assume to be the facts which are seldom accurate about big constrictor snakes.
I'm only 5 foot 9 and weigh less than 130 pounds and Chewy (At 11 Feet) overwhelms me with his large size but he's a VERY social friendly snake and no threat to anyone whatsoever !! Actually he is toilet trained to go outdoors and he's like my bodyguard always on me, close to me or touching me outside in the yard !
It's so wrong to fear something that you know little or nothing about :( If in doubt at least respect the snakes for what they are !

I will let this video speak for itself !! Some people refuse to be realistic about the way they keep their animals (pets) especially when it comes to the lies that the animal rights organizations and press and media put out about snakes !! I apologize for the rant but it gets old hearing the lies people spread around about snakes !! :( Snakes make just as great a pet as dogs and cats do and the way any animal turns out is primarily based on the quality of life that is provided for that animal !! Snakes and Pitbulls have been an ongoing target by the public and these stereotypes need to stop !! Sadly enough many of the people that keep and raise snakes are guilty of spreading out this misinformation.

So many people are misinformed about big constrictor snakes and many don't realize how much work it takes for a snake to go against it's natural instincts to defend their lives and break down those barriers and learn to trust humans !! It takes a ton of work, quality time invested, handling and dedication to bond with large constrictors and establish trust between the two. I adore spending quality time with my HUGE snakes and they NEVER pose a threat to me or anyone else !! Also in this video is my oldest Daughter, April that has really been doing great working with my big snakes :)
